Barry JohnsonBarry S. Johnson is the Founder and Managing Partner of Shooting Star Solutions, LLC. Since establishing Shooting Star Solutions in 1999, Barry has successfully led the company’s overall business strategy and operations, steadily expanding its client list to include over sixteen State of California departments, achieving a high degree of client satisfaction as evidenced by a history of repeat business.

Prior to establishing, Shooting Star Solutions, Barry was an executive with Logicon, leading its State and local government national practice. Barry retired from the United States Air Force as an Officer with more than 25 years information technology experience and federal and state government budgeting and financing.
Barry’s experience includes software development, project management, and Independent Verification and Validation (IV&V) of large complex systems in California, Texas, and Florida. He has also assisted clients with acquisition support and proposal evaluations. Representative projects include offender-based management systems, child support enforcement systems, welfare systems, and medical management information systems.

Barry is an active participant in the standards community for the development of information technology policies and procedures. Specifically, he assisted in the re-write of IEEE Standard 1012-1998, Standard for Software Verification and Validation. He participated in the development of the IEEE Certified Software Development Professional (CSDP) Examination and is currently co-authoring an IEEE Ready-Note for IV&V.

In addition to his professional pursuits, Barry is actively involved in the Catholic Church and is currently a second year Deacon in-training. Barry anticipates entering full Deaconate formation in 2012. Barry is also a proud tribal member of the Cherokee Nation.

Barry holds a Bachelors of Science and a Masters of Science in Computer Science from California State University of Sacramento. He is an IEEE Certified Software Development Professional (CSDP) and is a member of the Project Management Institute (PMI).
